Various notes - wines consumed in better surrounds than others:

Penfolds 407 - 03
:
Good nose, complex but not overly varietal. Meduim weight, blk currants, dusty (slightly moldy), slightly green tannins, wouldn't buy more - 87pts

Haselgrove Mclaren Vale Reserve Shiraz - 96:

Nice on the nose: dark cherries, choc w/vanilla oak
Wrong on the palate: way Too much vanilla, tannins holding up and still quite young - 85pts

Punt Road Shiraz - 01:
Beautiful savoury plums and pepper on the nose w/beautifu cool climate fruit -silken plums, cherries and white pepper, medium weight - very balanced, very enjoyable - 92pts

Te Mata Coleraine - 97:
Nose seemed very developed w/pruney, leathery sweet fruit. suprisingly light bricked color. Palate was silky prunes with good weight - I think this was oxidized...87pts

Charles Melton Nine Popes - 98:

Nice wine - plums, mulberries, good weight, a balanced and complete wine. Will still go strong for another 4 yrs - 94pts
