I'll be in Sydney and have a few days (Sept 6-8) to tour around. I'd appreciate any information on wine bars, wine friendly restaurants, wine stores, and organized wine trips to Hunter Valley.
Thanks, Frank

Ultimo Wine Centre is probably the best fine wine store. Annandale Cellars and Summer Hill Wine Shop are OK too. I think there are a few decent shops on the north shore too, but I don't often go that way.

Frank,
Plenty of restaurants here. Not sure if you're wanting BYO or wones with good wine lists. As I tend to prefer the BYO option, if you want fine dining (but if you're not from Sydney, be prepared to be shocked by the prices) Claudes and Tetsuyas are both BYO but you'd need to book immediately for both. For more midrange, had a great meal in Newtown at Linda's recently and they are BYO. I think RB may have a list of good BYOs on the foodie page of this site.
If you're going up the Hunter, I personally prefer Tyrrells, Mount Pleasant, Lakes Folly (if open) but most of the fun is just in trying new things and having unexpected surprises.
Chez Pok at Peppers guest house is supposed to be very good although I haven't eaten there myself. I would hope the wine list would be good.
If you give us more detail of what sort of food you want, what level of dining you're thinking about and whether you want BYO or a serious wine list, we might be able to help more.

If you go to the Hunter I would also add Brokenwood and Margan, though the latter is a bit further away in the Broke area.

For cellar doors, dont miss the boutique wine center in Pokolbin for the Meerea Park range.
