Wine & The Cold

Hello All,
I am getting over a dodgy secondary chest infection (what most would call a cold) after fighting off a nasty virus earlier in the week. Due to this, the last drop of wine I had was last Saturday night. (No, I am not writing this post to make you cry with pity for my situation )
As detailed above, I am now in the final stages of a cold. I still have a "sometimes messy" cough but my nose is clear and my desire to drink the true "liquid of life" is extremely high. So, should I crack open a good bottle to celebrate the end of the working week?
What are your opinions/feelings about the health effects of wine on a person (me) just about to get over a cold? We all know wine is good for keeping away a cold (I do not want any replies against this as my wife might see ) but it always catches up to us!
Love to hear your thoughts and about your experiences,
Adair
