Anyone taste this wine lately? The last one I open was something like four years ago, open another bottle last night and it is totally difference from what I expected.

It is smooth and good to drink but lack of the complexity and structure which I expected from my past experience. Will it be a bottle variation or this wine has already pass it peak? However, JO give it 95 points and the drinking window is from 2007 to 2013!

I too found that it lacked complexity, as have many of the other vintages. This label to me was a real disappointment. It started off looking like it had so much promise but failed to deliver as it aged.

Agree. All the rosemount stuff is heavily discounted over in NZ at the mo. Often see mountain blue low $30's, balmoral $40 etc

Im just so over the style, agree with Ric, simple go no where style, no structure, loose knit lack of stuffing. Never tempted

Mountain Blue was a big disappointment for me too. I bought the first few vintages and then realised the errors of my ways.

I bought 6 of the 94 ($26) and enjoyed them all, the last one early last year was still going strong. I only bought one 95 ($30) and none thereafter as the price increases out-stripped the quality of the wine, like most of the Rosemount "premium" reds. Even at under $20 I haven't really been tempted by the current Show Reserve reds.

I have tried the 01, 02 and 03 Show Reserve cabs recently and didn't buy (like yourself). I have not tried the Show Reserve shiraz recently. Have you? Is it worth a peek? As you say, the prices for the Show Reserves have certainly come down.

I haven't yet tried the 2003 Cabernet (haven't even seen it locally) or 2002 Shiraz yet although it's been out a little while now, probably should, wouldn't like to miss a bargain if they get it right again.

Just checked the database, the last SR I bought was from the 98 vintage, paid $23.50, the latest case prices are about $5pb less than that.

I think the 03 Cab has only been out for a week or so. I don't know about the shiraz.

The only vintage I've tried that looked the goods young and has held up "ok" with time was the 1996, although a recent bottle opened was difficult to get enthused about - somewhere in the good to very good range - about 83 points.

The '94 was a brilliant "release" wine but, in my case, fell on its bum badly after several years and several tries at it.

I'd would suggest JO's score and drinking window on the '95 may be fairly ancient (like at release!).
