I am intending on opening a magnum of the 1991 Wynns Centennary Magnum tomorrow for lunch. Can anyone advise if this is drinking well at the moment ( given being a magnum ) and also on the length of time to decant prior to serving.

Ive never been one for decanting too far before the show, especially with older wines; 15 minutes beifre you need it I reckon

I open a magnum half year ago and it was excellent to drink. Still got two left, may open them in couple of years

If the magnum has been well stored, the wine is probably in need of more bottle age, thus a decent decant. My advice would be to have a sip a couple of hours before you intend to drink it, make an assessment as to its condition and decide to decant then if it's big and brawny, or leave it in the bottle, cork back in, if it's open and ready to go. All my bottles (bought at release) opened thus far revealed a deep, brooding wine. Hoping all goes well.

Thanks for the advice, I think about 90 minutes before lunch ( lamb cutlets) I'll open and test and probably decant with an hour to go.
The bottle is in pristine condition that I bought from a closing down sale of a small boutique wine store.
