My first experience with one of the fabled "garagiste" wines of the right bank. At around $240 AUD (it was bought by another diner) it is seriously priced and one would expect it to be quite special. My preconception of this style was that it would mirror the high alcohol ,treacle like intensity of the OZ blockbusters that RPj champions so readily. In fact it was nothing like that, and ultimately quite a disappointing wine for the price.
I would classify it as a strange wine. The chief objection I had was the bitter blackcurrant finish which was quite distracting,in fact it dominated whatever positive impressions I was attempting to muster together. It also finished quite short, something of a blessing given the afforementioned character. All in all, poor value for money and not recommended.
Cheers
