Hi all,
I'm writing this from the warmth of New York City, to say that I'm unfortunately not able to attend the next BWC meeting. And since I'll be out of the country until then, I'll not be well suited to organising said meeting.
So I'm looking for a volunteer to do so in my place. Any takers?
Thanks,
Stuart

Good man for organising. I was actually thinking that different people choosing the restaurant/wine theme would be a good idea and would take the heat off Stuart.
Very happy with the choice of restaurant and the wine selection
. 31st is fine by me. Either menu is fine (the concept of 'choice' is a little overdone these days!); your call as you are organising.
If partners are coming again, I will see if Yasmin wants to come.

I do believe it was a random plea for the liberty of the long suffering pea, Graham suffers from a rare condition called vegetable tourettes syndrome, wherby instead of blurting out expletives, he blurts out pleas for the freedom of vegetables

Menu looks great. Free the carrots too!!!
I don't want to spoil anyone's fun (Chill
), and am happy to be overuled on this, but maybe Barossa Red is too broad a category? I just remember it not really being fair on the (probably very nice) Mitolo Cab Sav amongst all that McLaren Vale Shiraz . My palate rejected it like a Patel kidney transplant
. Maybe Barossa Shiraz and Shiraz blends (GSM, Shiraz/Cab, etc.)? Just a suggestion. As previous post - your call.
Will have to see re wines, but will post them by next week. I will try to bring something to match with the bunny soup as well as a Big Red. Count Yasmin in.
Cheers

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard! Unless you asked to take cask port, the last time I looked at a Tokay, Muscat or Port, they were in bottles. Ask if it's OK to bring a Muscat Beaumes de Venise, lightly fortified to 15.5%, would that be OK??

It may be a licensing thing, I've been told by a couple of restaurants in Canberra that their licence prohibits byo fortified wines and spirits. Many will still let you bring a bottle of fortified though, it depends a bit on how long it is since they were visited by a licensing inspector and whether they got caught or not.
Then there was the Canberra restaurant (Courgette) that without warning slapped on a $35 corkage charge on a half bottle of muscat that had been sitting on the side table with the rest of the wines all night. This was despite a pre-arranged reasonable corkage deal for a group of 12 people. After failing to negotiate any reduction I paid by credit card instead of the cash I'd collected and of course there was no tip and none of the party have been back in the 2 years since. A lot of people have been told of the experience as well, so I think their $35 has cost them a fair bit.

Hi all, Yes Brian, I have been to Courgette and had a lovely meal, I must say I didn't feel comfortable with the way they had to keep your wine away from the table and present it when you asked for a refill (Take note, not when they noticed!). I was particularily annoyed when on my way out, I walked past one of the wines I had brought was still 1/3 full! So suffice to say, I wouldn't go back and have spread the good word!!!
I am so glad to see that others in this world share their experiences, both good and bad!
Regards
Finney (Craig)

I had intended on bringing a port?
I think a white and a old block, or some pennies with a bit of bottle age any preferences.?
Cheers
