TVS: A couple of Zilzie wines.

Was at my local purveyor of beverages of the alcoholic persuasion and he asked me to try a few reds. There were 3 Zilzies and 2 Deen De Bortolis.
The Zilzies were all 2002s: (Opened just before tasting)
A Petit Verdot and Sangiovese that were HOT with acid. Could not taste anything else.
The third was a Tempranillo. WOW was it different. First time I had tried this grape and was overwhelmed. The balance was superb and sang with great fruit flavours.
He convinced me to take some home and try them, which I did. I decanted the P.V. for about 5-6 hours. What a different kettle of fish. The fruit rose to glorious heights and sang an Aria on my tongue.
I will be trying the PV and Tempranillo again tonight to check on progress. The great thing about these wines is the price. $9 each.
The Deens were 2000s - The Shiraz was most enjoyable, also good QPR at $9. The C/S was not bad but not great either.
MM.
