Interesting article in the Melbourne Age today by Jeni Port at http://www.theage.com.au/news/epicure/a ... 51944.html.

I find it hard to argue against any of these selections, though I know there are plenty on this group who will. :D

Cheers Andrew

Personally I find the article fairly banal and symptomatic of a misguided need to come up with some sort of gimic each week. Surely there are more worthwhile things to write about, or was Jeni Port told to do it by the editors of Epicure?

Harmless stuff, and yes it must be tough to dream up something to write about each week, I know I couldn't do it.

If you want to see purile banality, just check out the Adelaide Advertiser's coverage of AFL each day, or should I say Crows and Power each day.

Last week they had a colour life size face cut out of Mark Ricuitto you could wear to the footy last week because he wouldn't be playing due to suspension! Faaark !

Thank goodness for the Herald Sun's balanced coverage.

Actually, I thought it was pretty good. What's the difference between coming up with an article each week and posting a new thread on this forum.

My only criticism would be including a pinot over a semillon - something uniquely australian. The article has caused me to review my decision not to buy any Grosset riesling this year - Doh!

Eloquently disagreed on the Mt.Mary. Whilst elegance are never Oztralian forte, why bother trying to replicate the Frog's?

Like most OZ wines, Oztralian generally are
relaible, (consistent), honest (no hype) & friendly(to the wallet)

Oh boy, I have been only doing it for four years and its bloody hard; sometimes thinking of the article theme is harder than writing it.

Also, you need to remember the audience Jenni is writing for; they love that sort of stuff, where many of us are jaded by too much wine experience  and have our own experince. The majority of her readers probaly drink in the $5-$18 a bottle bracket and rarely get to $25 a bottle.
