Ric's tour diaries are a great resource but for some reason they don't include whether there are toys in the corner for the three year old so the parents can try some wine in peace :lol:

Back in the before children days I seem to recall a number of wineries (Mt Avoca comes to mind) had toys in the tasting room - then I thought it might be a good idea, now I am actively seeking it. :roll:

Can anyone recommend some Victorian wineries (that are worth visiting on their own account) that are child friendly? Toys in the tasting room or the aviary at Bullers?

Mind you it also helps if the staff are friendly too one Canberra winery had a basket of blocks but objected when the two year old banged them rather than stacked them quitely

Where do you think I got the idea for the $2 trick? Its cheaper than paying for stock breakage. :wink:

Lots of the wineries have friendly dogs and that can be a childrens distraction /entertainment too. Perhaps I need to include a "child friendly" rating in my next Tour Diary. :idea:

We often take our kids (5 and 1) on most of our winery visits. Wineries that either have space, are safe for kids to wander, and/or kid friendly staff include:

Stoniers - Big space to run, toy box in tasting area, kid aware staff.
Bests - Big space to run, kid friendly staff.
TGallant - short on space but fast tasty food next to tasting area.
Redhill - Big space to run
Michelton - Space and stairs
Cambells - Space and kid friendly staff.
Eyton - Big space with pond (Dam)
Balgownie - Big Space and kid friendly staff

Thanks for the suggestions - this trip will be a big change from the days BC (before children) - the most extreme then was in the order of 10 wineries and 400 km driving in a day.

This time will be lucky to do three wineries in a day and may be nine in three weeks :roll:
