2003 Kaesler “Old Bastard†Shiraz that is.
Reid BoswardÂ’s back label notes read:
Colour: Dense bastard
Nose: Tight bastard. As a young wine the fruit and oak are trading blows on a weekly basis. The fruit will prevail in a TKO in about round 11.
Palate: Solid Bastard.
Pretty funny I thought!

The Old Bastard
Bastard of a price to be sure but worth having the odd bottle in the cellar. Lucky me has tried the 2004 from barrel twice and it's stunningly good so save up for it.
I like Reid's humour, anyone who produces a wine called The Bogan just because he can gets my vote. I haven't persuaded him to do a white called The Mullet yet but I'll suggest it yet again next visit.
