URGENT HELP : Is 2003 Charles Cimicky Autograph Shiraz good?

by jimmyl
I am being "recommended" to purchase 120 bottles of 2003 Charles Cimicky Autograph Shiraz for $55 Singapore dollars each, included storage for 3 years.
Is it a bargain for investment?
I need to make a quick decision. Appreciate all your expert opinions.
Thank you

Agree with guest
I too would be suspect on these pressured "quick decision needed" situations.
I have received phone calls in the past, the person trying to sell wine as an investment with the usual, we'll store it for you, american market will buy this for double, blah blah blah...... "but you need to make your mind up now"
It's interesting to note that when I ask the caller to send me something in the mail, as I never make decisions over the phone, the caller can't get me off the phone quick enough. Most never send me anything.
Normally, within a year, I read about the "investment" turning sour
My advise is to ask for further details and take your time in evaluating your investment decision.... As one would when thinking about investing $6,600.... and if it sounds too good to be true, it normally is

Yes something very constructive--Buy your wine if you like it personally and try not to predict what others may want one day. Grab a bottle and try it.

I did some research on the internet and the Tobb guy says the producer attitude sucks.
The company is based here so probably cannot "run". Just need some opinion of the quality and potential of this wine.
Thank you.

The 2002 Autograph is brilliant, and was being sold still at cellar door for $40AUD/bottle (with a two bottle per customer limit).
I haven't tried the 2003 yet, but the CD staff were spruking that it was runner-up for best wine by a small winemaker at the last Barossa Wine Show, and it's selling for $50AUD/bottle at CD.
I will add two big caveats to these remarks - firstly ignore any generalisations about the 2003 vintage in the Barossa; the quality of the wines really does depend on whether the Winemakers got it really right in the Vineyard and the Winery. As TORB has stated there are equal numbers of stunners and stinkers out there, and more than ever trying before you buy is essential.
Secondly as TORB again has remarked the dreaded cork comes into play with this particular winery - they have had a history of bad batches of corks, and still publicly say that they get the best quality corks available despite the problems. They seem to show a little more urgency now to replace any faulty bottles, but whether you get the same service overseas and whether this lasts are two big questions.
For these reasons don't make a quick decision - at least do yourself the favour of trying the wine first to see if it's worth what seems to be a fair sized risk.
Cheers

Have to agree with a few of the guys above. I'd be cautious of this for a number of reasons, quick decision neeeded normally indicates there is risk involved, there are no reviews on this wine yet, 2003 is generally not as good as 2002, this wineries track record is patchy.
If you've got money to invest I'd suggest there are probably safer places to put it than in this particular wine.
