Attila,

Thank you for the write up. You are the sole tasting note source for the wines of Somlo. My Somlo Halliday!!! :)

I now have no idea when to open my sole bottles of Imre's three 2003 dry whites. However, I think the next wine of Imre's that I open will be the 1998 Olaszrizling, given Imre's comment in your last year's report that it was starting to look good.

Out of interest, where was the 2003 Tramini?

I note in last year's report, you tasted the 2002 Tramini and 2002 Furmint, while the Olaszrizling was the 2001 and no remotely current Harslevelu except the aged and great 1997. Does Imre have any pattern or reason when he offers/releases his wines to you, or when he bottles them?

Great pictures.

Thanks again,
Adair

Yes...I was thinking about that myself. Where is his Tramini and Juhfark in 2003?
Then it clicked that these varieties are grown on the 0,5 hectare he leases from an other grower.
There are times when this grower simply keeps the all the fruit for himself or if the quality is not up to scratch, Imre simply does not harvest there.
I forgot to ask him this year.
Mr. Györgykovács is the Picasso of the Hungarian wine world so that wouldn't surprise me if he HAD Tramini or Juhfark in 2003 but for whatever reason, he would not show it (yet).
I'll investigate.
Cheers,
Attila
Ps: If you want to drink the 2003s, best to wait 1 year at least. The 1998 Olaszrizling should be very good.
