1998 Rothbury Estate "Brokenback" Shiraz - Hunter Valley, NSW - 13%

Dark and savoury with ripe red fruits and excellently harmonious sweet oak handling. Very complex. Excellent depth, not at all thinning in the back like many wines of its style. Smooth and long. Good acid but very fine, and with abundant powdery tannins. An excellent "Hunter" Shiraz. Definitely at its peak now, an absolute pleasure to drink. 17.9/20, 92/100.

Apparently this is one of or the last great vintage of this wine before being sold off.

Kind regards,
Adair

Thanks for the note. I got a few bottles in my cellar and was just wondering what it tastes like.

A notable Hunter being the only one to ever win a Blacktongues tasting in twenty years.

I've got two left which I'll drink soon, thanks Adair.
