The colour stains the glass as it is swirled, and I can't imagine what it's doing to my teeth! It's a crimeon red on the edges with a darker crimson to the centre.
The nose was, from memory, sweet red berry fruits with evident French oak, and a little heat from the alcohol. A little closed, but not tight, the nose opened up as the night went on to display some richer fruit elemants.
The palate was light to medium bodied, showing very good structure, acid balance, smooth ripe tannins and more of the red berries and sweet oak.
The palate came up a little short and thin at the end, which is it's only let down.
Overall, a well made wine with cellaring potenial that is good quality for the $29 price tag.
The question in my mind, is whether or not it deserved the 95/100 Halliday gave it.
