2002 Rockford “Eden Valley” Riesling – 13% - $17.50 CD

I had this wine last night and was disappointed. This disappointing example had a fill level around 1cm less than the wine reviewed below. The reviewed wine (below) was no disappointment.

Bright, light golden. Intense and powerful. Ripe limes, quite spicy, some floral notes and with white mineral in abundance. Hints of sweet development. As sumptuous and juicy as a Riesling can get, yet with great ripe acidic structure. The wine fills the entire palate. Acidity is wondrous, very steely but not bracing. Good length that lingers well, enhanced by a little chalkiness. Very easy, too easy, to pour another glass. Classy and pure. Exceptionally drinkable. 18.5/20, 94/100. Drink now to 2010.

Kind regards,
Adair
