Anyone able to fill me in on what's currently available throught the cellar door or mail-order???

Prices and bottle limits would be greatly appreciated too.

Also, are the single vineyard shiraz ever available throught rhe cellar door or mailing list, and what might they set you back?

Thanks one and all

Cheers

John, not a lot available to the general list right now. They are out of 02 Cabernet ($32), must be close to out of 02 Basket Press ($44ish), and I tihnk even the 02 ROd and Spur is sellign well ($28). 00 Moppa is there too, never really looked at it.

The single vineyards gear is Stonewallers only, and 1 bottle of each at that. $75ish. IMO not worth the money.
Basket Press starts out available to Stonewallers in October or so, and goes to general public the following March.

Sparkling Shiraz is about $54 I tihnk, Stonewaller only

The VP is about $54 as well, and also starts Stonewaller only.

BUT if you're there in person, sometimes some of the good gear is generally available.

Others might have more detail, but this might start you off,

cheers

Good summary Andrew. John, the comments are fairly close to the mark.

Why not plan a visit to the Barossa next March?

sounds like it would be a good idea - haven't been there since about '95 i think.... long overdue

In case you weren't aware, the CD is closed on Sunday.

Saturday and public holidays is usually five deep, but if you take a deep breath and use elbows

I was there today and noticed Basket Press and black shiraz magnums too.

I understand the waiting list for Stonewallers is both closed and a six year wait. If that doesn't make any sense that is what I was told today by CD staff.

If you like Rockford wines, why not just leave your details with them. I became a Stonewaller after being on their mailing list for 3 years. Frankly it was a good surprise when I received their order form for Stonewaller last year because I purchased only 9 bottles of their wine in that 3 waiting years.

I was there also a few weeks ago and was told by CD staff that they are not taking any more names for their mailing list.
Luckily I've been on it for a couple of years...
Also 2002 Basket Press is sold out sadly.

Any thoughts on the 01 Basket Press?

I saw some today at $56. I thought that was a great price, but looking at the mailing list price has changed that!

I really like the 2001 Basket Press, in fact I topped up recently with another six pack from auction, albeit at a higher price but in ten years when it's hitting it's strap who will care about an extra $10 or so a bottle.

LL, $56 is a great price on the secondary market. The only way you can get that $44 price is by being a stonewaller and even then you can only get 6 bottles unless you have cellar door visits as well. If you want it, just buy it.
