Hi Guys...

Ive found a shop that has a single bottle of Orlando Lawsons 1992. Ive tried the 96,98 and 99 and think they are absolutely fantastic. Has anyone recently tried the 92?

Its a Magnum, for $135

thanks

Stretching the memory but fairly certain I had a 92 last winter which looked typical Lawsons.

The trick with your magnum is where it's been for the last 10 years, it may be a beauty but there's a risk.

This is spot on - find out where the shop got it from and how it's been stored/how they've stored it. If they've got it from release and cellared it properly it could be great, but if they got it from auction and/or had it standing upright or cooking under bright lights/sunlight, avoid it.

Interestingly the Lawsons is not clearing too well at auction and selling cheaply there if you're willing to take the risk. A couple of months ago I bought a 1991 magnum for $85 + commission: that's $96.50 in total for a better vintage than the bottle you're looking at. On the flipside I don't have the security of being able to take it back to a retailer if there's a problem, and that's an advantage you (should) have with the 1992 magnum. It's your choice, and that's partly determined by when/if you want to drink it.

Cheers
Ian

Yes, the only Lawsons I've tasted (98) was so minty it could be used as mouthwash.

Thanks for the comments guys. I believe it has stayed in the same place, ~20C temp aircon...i think it should be ok....and they have no problems exchaning dud bottles ..so should be fine.

Thanks
