Do we need one for everyone to put theirs on?

So we have a tasting notes only section and a general chat section?

I think that would be worth considering. Gavin will obviously watch over the comments here.

sorry the first post was me but had probs logging in and yes the separate areas would be the way to go. I note the board is already broken up with this capacity, it just lately its a bit of minefield to try and work through with a lot more notes than ever it seems

We have tried both systems, we started with separate, and each way people were pro, and against.

you can practically find ALL tasting notes posted here by typing the wine name in a search string

Its more a matter of sifting through a list of disjointed threads as opposed to finding something specific thats my point

The problem for me is that the separate section is called What we liked and is described as In this forum will be tasting notes for wines that the forum have really liked, a good place to start when deciding on wine purchases.

Not trying to be overly critical but when I joined the forum I thought this meant that you could only put TNs on wines that you really liked in the separate section. So I started posting TNs in the main section of the forum and just got used to doing that. The forum does not go through more than a page a day and often much less so its not too hard to see what is new. Just label yout tasting note with a TN in the title and I don't think there will be a problem. Now eBob....

Its sort of evolved. Very few use the What I Really Like forum, and I'm considering removing it. If its not used or read much, there seems little point.

We had initially a separate tasting note forum, people complained about having to visit two forums, they preferred one.

In truth, there is no way to satisfy each individual member.

If most of the members and many of the 'guests' posted tasting notes and we got more than could be followed from the main forum on a regular basis (which would be fantastic!) I would create that separate section again.

isnt that like a pool for those who want to get wet and a pool for those who dont

chatting about wine without describing how one tastes is stupid. You cnat seperate the two
