Some time ago I asked this group's advice on buying this wine (at auction) and I promised to report back if I won it and once I drank it. Well, it all came to be so here's my note:

95 Great Western Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz, Australia Now here's a wine that proves that you can be off-dry without being sweet. Age has taken the fruit flavors from fresh to dried in a good way. Full-bodied with cassis, cranberry raisins, dates and leathery tones with an effervescence as robust as the day it was bottled. A fine mousse and small, pin-prick bubbles show skilled winemaking. On the heavy side so a better after-dinner drink than aperitif, it's drinking well now but I have another bottle that I'll happily forget about for another five years.
