Guess which wine in the Lighter-bodied Reds has a "A big tannic structure". Hint, it's quite expensive ($100+) and was beaten for top spot in class by the under-$20 2003 Bin 138.
I wonder who chooses which class a wine is placed in?

The wine is the 2002 Penfolds RWT Shiraz for those not into guessing games... however, all the judges noted that it needed time.
But lighter bodied? I hope not!

I just had a look at the site and the RWT 2001 is in the Fuller bodied dry reds category I wonder why the 02 wasn't?

And why was it awarded a Blue Gold when most of the judge's comments were quite average, at least to my interpretation...?
"It's a ripe style if a little simple"
"young and raw but a good wine"
"lacked a bit of generosity ... needed a bit more power and weight"
"Concentrated and spicy, but a rather dry finish and medium length. It was okay..."
"A little subdued on the nose"
I presume it was tasted blind, and the comments aren't really that promising... hard for those of us who would prefer to try the wine before we fork out $100+ it when we have no access to free tastings.

Amarone in Lighter Red category. Fox Creek Short Row Shiraz and Reserve Cabernet in medium bodied category. Bremerton Old Adam and Bleasdale Frank Potts in the lighter red category- JESUS what 's in the full bodied red category.
Given these wines are supposed to be the best, many of the judges comments are very critical.....
Looks like a bunch of arse to me!!
