2002 Clarendon Hills “Brockman Vineyard†Merlot – 14.5%
Rich, ripe plums and sweet spices with hints of herb. Long, soft and silky with excellent power. Despite its power, its structure remains quite elegant with fine tannins that are in harmony with the wine. The palate, to its credit, is quite varietal. This is my only taste of this wine but there is discussion amongst my fellow tasters that this is a disappointing bottle as the fruit is not as deep as past bottles. Low level TCA might be an influence here. This is a good wine nonetheless, but I would not buy a bottle alone. 17.6/20. ($80 RRP)
