1998 Yalumba “D Black†Sparkling Shiraz – Barossa Valley, South Australia
I have read very positive reviews of this wine and now I know why. This is one of AustraliaÂ’s better Sparkling Shiraz. This wine is showing beautifully harmonious aged, savoury complexity, as expected for a wine that is now 7 years old, but the power of the underlying dark, sweet, primary, pure blackberry and blackcurrant is quite special. Vanilla oak is apparent, as is a little sweetness, but this all combines to make a powerful and complex wine that is still to reach its potential. 18.5/20. ($30 RRP)

Shush, don't tell everyone, retail stocks are nearly out, the 99 has been released, I don't know if it is as good as the 98, but with Yalumba consistency it hopefully will be.
I've drunk a couple of cases of this, street price as low as $23, a bargain.

Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)

Understand...now I need to buy some. I bought this particular wine by the glass, and they did not sell it by the bottle due to limited supply. For the lateral thinkers, I was at a wine bar!
