Hi...Am wondering when the 2002 range of Wendouree was realeased and if there was much made from this vintage? Its so hard to find the 02 stuff so i take it people are holding it or there was never much of it? Does anyone on their list know what the prices were abouts?
Cheers

Apparently the quantities of the 2002 were pretty good for Shiraz but Cabernet was quite small - judging by the number of bottles I was given.
With regard to when they are released, mailing list members get the offers to buy in June (June 2004 for the 2002 vintage), and the wines are delievered a few months after.
Prices were $40 for the 2002 Shiraz, straight Cabernet and Cabernet Malbec, while the 2002 Shiraz Mataro was $35, and the 2001 Muscat of Alexandria is $18.
I am holding my lot... except the Muscat.
Kind regards,
Adair

The '02 offerings were about the same price as previous years, the shiraz Mataro $35 (no Shiraz Malbec this year). The Shiraz, Cab Sauv and Cab Malbec all $40.
Best bet to find some is to keep an eye out at the various auction sites....they will turn up.
cheers,

I'm not on their list, but consider myself lucky to have been allowed to buy from anothers allocation (thanks to a thoughtful person here for setting that up
). It turns up at auction, so just keep an eye out. Langtons have some '02 shiraz in their current auction
http://www.langtons.com.au but the prices so far aren't as attractive as the release price. The other reds are quite good value at auction, not to mention being quite good to drink either.

Thats value for money, 02 was exceptional, especially that area, Aberfledy, Wendouree, Adelina and the like.
A very different style of wine, however very similar microclimate in terms of viticulture is Tim Adams 02 Aberfeldy (retailing at similar prices), looking brutal yet stunning now, will look exceptional in a few years.
Cheers
Colin.
