2001 Kays Brothers Amery Shiraz – McLaren Vale - 13.8%
Medium bodied. Blackberry, fruit cake sweet spices and ripe red cherries with well judged pencil-like oak. Lacking depth at the moment but the wineÂ’s fine, dusty and slightly woody tannins are part of an integrated yet youthful structure that will enable the wine to fill out over the next 5 years. Decanting longer than 10 minutes might have also helped this wine. Nonetheless, a great buy for $15 a bottle without a back label. 16.5/20.
