2004 The Long Flat Wine Co. Yarra Valley Pinot Noir – 13.5% - Yarra Valley
Very bright and light red. The wines leads with a beautiful nose of great elegance and complexity. The palate is very light bodied and with little depth, although the acid is not unpleasant and the flavours are defined, enjoyable and truly varietal with pleasing sappiness, raspberry, compost and a faint touch of stalk. Recommended and sensational value. A must try for a Pinot Noir lover at around $11, or a Pinot Noir lover wanting to teach a novice about the grape.

Took a bottle of this out and opened at the local chinese - later in the banquet with some beef and lamb goodies - wasn't overly impressed at first - then it became nigh on impossible to judge as one dish had a ridiculous amount of dried chillies thru it.

Had another look 2 days later - very nice - and again last night remnants of the bottle finished after being opened for 5 days... call me strange but I liked the wine the more time it had open.

Would have to agree that this is a bargain for a wine that shows varietal chracter and certainly something interesting for the price.

Cheers - JB
