2000 Arakoon "Sellicks Beach" Shiraz/Grenache – 15% - McLaren Vale
Deep, silky and powerful. Rarely do I enjoy Australian Grenache based wines and I can't remember ever enjoying one like this. For all its ripe, dark, prune fruits, this wine does not cloy as it does not possess the typical jammy sweetness of the vast majority of Grenache wines that I absolutely hate. The wine is now also being assisted by some light developed savouriness. Highly Recommended/Excellent, this was an absolute bargain at $15-$16 on release. Although it will hold for a while, drink now.
