Guigal Cotes du Rhone 2001. Any impressions? (nt)

I've not tried the wine as there are better CdR's available at lower price points in the UK. However, 2001 was an excellent vintage, so it should be a decent wine.

The CHAPOUTIER BELLERUCHE is excellent.

but frankly I don't buy this type of wine. plenty of OZ which r much better.

I tried this wine on release (in 2003 I think)

It's a good vintage for the CdR, and should be good drinking now.

Here's a brief note that i wrote back in November, 2004. Interestingly this wine shared mixed opinions during the evening, more so than any other. As you can see I think it's a little too young right now but has some potential. Hope this helps.

"Deep purple in appearance. Black pepper, raspberry and a hint of earth on the nose. Still very young; unbalanced, raw and harsh my notes from last month read. A fruit bomb that is, for me, far too tannic to enjoy at this age. I'd like to re-taste this in 3 to 5 years time."
