1998 Howard Park Chardonnay
Mid gold colour. Gorgeous nose of fresh cashews, passionfruit and pineapple. Still relatively youthful. Palate is rich and powerful, with abundant hints of ripe tropical fruits (citrus, apricot and passionfruit accents), endowed with a measured swish of acidity and nice vanilla oak. Quite a lovely, seamless package. Glad I opened one before sending of my six-pack to auction. A surprisingly very good cool-climate chardonnay from AustraliaÂ’s Great Southern Region, from someone who largely detests Aussie chardonnay.
