1983 Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet
Light gold with beautiful clarity. Lovely colour. Nose is still primary and full on. Some buttery oak evident, which dissipated with time. Remnants of fresh honeydew, melon, nuts, cashews and lychees. Beautifully balanced and evocative bouquet. On the palate, roasted cashews, sweet grapefruit and melons. Very good length, gorgeous body, nice texture, and very focussed. Fine but not flabby. A lovely drop in every regard. I knew it would be good given my experience late last year with both the 83 Puligny Montrachet and Clavoillon from Leflaive. After 4 hours, did not diminish. Beautifully integrated acid on the end supports the wine. Oak not prominent, unlike its early influence on the bouquet. No signs of falling apart. Excellent wine.
94 / 100
