2003 TOWER ESTATE Clare Yalley Riesling

2003 TOWER ESTATE Clare Valley Riesling

Tower Estate is a top class Hunter Valley winery. This Riesling is from their regional selection. The fruit is sourced from the JuddÂ’s Hill vineyard in the Clare Valley, South Australia. For the record, I havenÂ’t tasted Riesling this good from Brian Barry himself, owner of JuddÂ’s Hill. In fact, I prefer this wine to any of the recent releases of Petaluma or even Taylors-St.AndrewÂ’s. This is outstanding Riesling and an excellent achievement by winemaker Dan Dineen. Alc/Vol 13.5% and bottled under super high quality cork.

Colour bright golden with beautiful clarity. Floral nose with stone fruits and a hint of orange peel. The palate is a wonderful surprise. This is a full bodied Riesling packed with soft, thick, supremely varietal Riesling fruit. Open and delicious, it is a majestic drink right now. I believe you can cellar this wine for 8 more years but my belief with Riesling is to drink it any stage when itÂ’s delicious. The soft and cuddly palate is perfectly balanced by mouth watering acidity on the finish. There is a little Clare hotness on the finish but that doesnÂ’t detract from this top wine. The aftertaste is very long and pleasantly dry. A rare find among Rieslings, well worth the AU $26 asking price. Very, very good. Enjoy but do not over chill.

Agreed. Top wine. One of many lovely wines in their current range.

Attilla, must be one of the few 2003 Rieslings bottled under cork, not that I a true red bigot get into white sections of bottle shops!
Cheers - Steve
If you can see through it, it's not worth drinking!
