By all impressions, and carrying on from another thread, the 2002 Barossa cabernets promise to deliver outstanding quality at excellent prices.
So far we have:
2002 Rockford Rifle Range
2002 Peter Lehman The Barossa Cabernet
2002 Saltram Mamre Brook Cabernet
any one else like to contribute ? With the excellent showing of the 2001 Turkey Flat Cabernet has anyone tried any of the pre-releases the 2002 as yet ?

Hi Mark.
All of these are good wines without doubt. Do you think that the 2002 Mamre Brook at around $20 is good QPR?
Thanks,
PJ.

For sure ! I am going to shop around the next week or so and grab a dozen or so for the cellar.

The only "hetrosexual" Barossa Cabernet is Seppelt Dorrien. The rest are "transvestite"
Pls enlighten me if I'm wrong. If I'm a viticulturist, I'll graft all my rootstock into Shiraz

Having just jumped off the Barossa cabernet bandwagon, I have noted much recent praise.
Is it true you can count on one hand, exceptional bottles of Barossa cabernet, from the last twenty vintages?

Jamie, yes you can count outstanding Barossa Cabernet of the last 20 years on one or maybe two hands but you'll need a friends hands soon. So get back on the bandwagon, it's full of good old Barossa oompahpah with the 2002s.
I'm a big rap for them and I'm currently putting together a tasting for the Blacktongues in January. Here's what it currently looks but I'm still on the hunt but needs to be only ten
Rockford Rifle Range
Charles Melton
Kaesler
Langmeil Jackaman
Greenock Creek
Glaymond
Turkey Flat
Kabminye
Rusden

Hi all,
Anne and I just love the '02 Pepperjack Cabernet, younger sister to the Mamre Brook but still a class act. Lovely full palate with no hollow mid palate and will age over the next 5 years or so. From an extemely cool year in SA where Barossa mimicked Coonwarra. 14%

It's also well worth a look at some McLaren Vale Cabernets from 2002.
I thought the Maxwell Lime Cave, Scarpantoni, and d'Arenberg High Trellis all looked remarkably strong at this early stage.
Cheers
