Wow, I was bang-on on this wine ! Scary.
It's a seductress in the plastic Brittany Spears category, and somewhat cheap and slutty by nature, yet I can't help but stare and appreciate it in it's an absurd and overwhelming awe.
Flashy with ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit, somewhat sweetish cocoa/hot-hearts spice, yet extremely solid in structure - one must extremely transgress the classics to honestly appreciate this wine.
Chocolate and red candy nibs, or dark cocoa and red licorice in heaping nasty preportions......a long and 'bitch'n' warm finish..........and I feel kinda dirty, but I like it.
Not a huge ager, but it can probably keep positively for 2-3 years with the minimal acid.
I confess I really (expletive) enjoyed it, in spite of itself.....on it's own.
Saucy !
No food pairings suggested, except hard, mild cheeses for balance.
Cheers,
Mishy

Agree on your notes for the Fifth Wave Grenache. It has been on predominately American Oak for 2 yrs but will change to French Oak soon.

I was fortunate enough to be in a tasting with Paul Lindner (winemaker) and James Lindner (marketing) just last week. Got to taste a vertical of their "The Freedom" 1997 - 2002. That's every vintage ever made. The Lindner boys have just returned from showing their wines in your part of the world or a bit lower down.

Also tasted:

03 Eden Valley Riesling
02 Semillon (used old German Oak with the staves bent backwards)
04 Bella Rouge (Rose)
03 Three Gardens (GSM or SGM)
02 Blacksmith Cabernet
02 Valley Floor Shiraz
01 Fifth Wave Grenache
97 - 02 The Freedom Shiraz
04 Disgorged Sparkling Shiraz
