Jim Barry Lodge Hill shiraz 2002
With pasta in town last night.
Deep black, with the faintest hint of purple at the rim. Nose of currants, earth and cassis. (odd for a shiraz)
Wonderful, medium-bodied palate of anise, blackcurrants, subtle oak,. Not a blockbuster-sized wine, but wonderful intensity never-the-less.
This really is my knd of quaffing wine. A great style by Barry, one we could really do with a lot more.
Drink:now-2007..................................................92pts.
