Bottle Shock

Hello All,

Just received some good wines from Gavin (2002 Mad Dogs) and while looking at one of the bottles, dropped it from a good height. Luckily it did not break but the wine is noticeably very shook up - like it is bubbling although it is a table wine.

Question: Have I done serious damage to the wine in this bottle?

Should I:

1) Drink this wine now as I have damaged it forever, or
2) Not worry as I have done it no damage, or
3) The wine is probably damaged a bit now but will be fine (as the rest of the bottles in the cases) in a few days.

Any thoughts?

Adair;

I think it shouldn't be a problem, think about the rough handling the wine would get during transport from the winery to Gavin and then from Gavin to you.
I would be more concerned if the wine was a aged wine which had a fair amount of sediment etc., I would then be leaving the wine for a while to settle.

I dont think you would have done damage, but it i would let the wine
sit for a day or two

the bubbles in it could be caused from either a. disolved Oxygen
b. disolved Carbon Dioxide

depending on how the bottle was filled and closed ie. vacum sealed, CO2 sealed or just sealed.

ulnless its actually fizzy when you drink it nothing to worry about(most of the time :D )
