Quite a nice wine by Ben Glaetzer and Scott Collett.
An opaque purple color with a pleasant dusty nose of berry and violets. Medium body, some interesting complexity and moderate to rich flavours of berry, violets and capsicum. Finely grained tannins, satisfactory finish and length.
Score: 85/100

Funny, just last night I was eyeing off a bottle of "The Stocks" 2001. Did you get to try it as well?

If I did I don't remember it. The last wine I have listed is the 2002 Fernfield Wines Pridmore Shiraz.

The 2001 Stocks was the last wine Gavin produced - we remarked about where the gold medals on the bottle came from, plus Roger and I were talking about the non-release of the 2000 (to date it has been way too green, and Roger thought it would never come together). Funnily enough some of the 2000 has finally been released, but I'm not sure if I'll be game enough to try it.
The wine was pretty good but not exceptional - I remember it being very savoury with smoky bacon/chocolate characters (no BBQ sausages though!). In what was a pretty ordinary field of reds it looked good, but the 2002 Kies Klauber Block Shiraz was miles ahead of it.
Cheers

I tried the 2000 at Woodstock last Friday, Grange proportions of everything, fruit, tannins, v.a. the lot. Impressive ...will it be an enjoyable drink, hard to say, but its mammoth!
BTW watch out later for the 2002 the Stocks, it was a cracker!
Not released for 12 months or so I believe.
