1998 Marchesi Di Barolo Cannubi Barolo - 14.5%:

Front palate slightly lacking in fruit (depth) but obvious cherry, other red berries, and savoury flavour (a touch of bad-aid). A hint of alcohol is noticed by Steve. The wine builds on the middle and back with tar and liqourice, and the red berry gets slightly liqueured. This is in line with the rest of the wine as very, very strong yet fine tannins make a huge presence on the back palate providing great length. The wine is big but has lovely elegence, almost concernly for a 1998 Barolo. Rated Highly Recommended/Excellent, the wine is a joy to drink but I am not sure about its future after the next 5 years, however I am the first to admit that I probably don't fully understand it. It might just age 20 years!

Thanks for the tasting Note.

Tried this one start of this year. New with Barolos so was not quite sure to expect. But is was very easy to drink! :P

I do find with most Italian wine, the palate at the front is not as obvious as the sides and back.
