1985 Möet et Chandon Champagne
Opened with a delightful pop. Light golden colour. Beautiful mousse considering its age. Nose is fresh brioche, bread and slightest hint of honey. The palate is the same. A delightful drink to welcome my brother back to Australia on his two-week holiday from his home in New Jersey. I wasn’t expecting much from this wine, and quite often this house comes in for a bit of flak for its easy style and mass appeal, but this 1985 (and the 1983 which are also travelling very well – I have a few bottles left for everyday drinking) was very good. The wine was perhaps only lacking great length and the added complexity of a prestige cuvee.
Very Good 17.5.0 / 20
