hello guys. i would like to ask about your opinions. is good wine made in the vineyard or winery? can you give me the reason why? thanks for that.

Hmmm. Asking that in a wine forum is rather like asking 'What is the nature of God?' at a seminary.

Perhaps I can sum it up in non-controversial form. You can't make a great wine without top fruit from a great vineyard. So a great wine is made in the vineyard.

But a great vineyard is no guarantee of a great wine. Far more 'great vineyard fruit' has been stuffed up by wineries than ever saw the inside of a bottle.

So the answer is really both. You can't have one (tra-la-la-la) without the o------ther!

Although I have seen plenty of crap wine made from good fruit I have yet to see good wine made from crap fruit, the best the winemaker can do is not stuff it up
