OK, first post on the new forum, let's see how it works.

Several years ago I tried an Ausvetia Shiraz (think it was the 95 vintage). I remember it being pretty good, but haven't seen any, or heard about this producer since. Just ran across some bottles of the 98 vintage, for what I think might be a decent price ($US 30), and wondered if anyone can tell me any more about the producer, quality, tasting notes, etc? There is almost no useful info on the bottle itself.

never tried but i am pretty sure it's from kym tolley at penley estate in coonawarra

i am not sure whether it is estate-grown fruit or not

kym is a very nice chap and I like a lot of his wines

The name Aus-Vetia is derived from the wine's country of origin, Australia, and the ancient title of Switzerland, Helvetia. The wine is made for a Swiss - Tim Abegg by Kim Tolley. Mostly exported.
The AusVetia blend comprises of McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Coonawarra fruit. 90% Shiraz and 10% Cab.
I've tried the 96, very supple but without the structure and intensity u would normaly expect fr a SA top Shiraz.
