Return Policy on oxidised wines?

Hello guys,
I opened up a 1992 Meshach for tea tonight. I am no expert, but it would appear to be oxidised. Opened around 3 hours ago & decanted it, but nose still remains dull and flat, and its hot on the palate.

I know the situation of corked wines is (reasonably) clear, but what about situations like this? Do they replace oxidised wines? (I was at Magill Estate some years ago, and they ditched several oxidised bottles while we watched them decanting...)

Anyhow, we have gone for the reserve bottle - a 1996 Kalimna- looking good, but still disappointed.... thanks

Daryl,

I am one of the foolish few buying wines from the dreaded VC. However, I find that this is where they come in handy. A recent example, purchased a 1995 Meshach early this year on their 20% off sale, but when opened it recently, found it very flat and devoid of any fruit. Knowing their pedigree, and cellering potential, I was fairly certain this was a dud bottle. Took it back to my regular VC store (did not even have the receipt for that long ago), and they endeavoured to replace it. Received a 1994 Meshach instead- not too bad in my view...

My 2 cents worth

Cheers,

Monghead.

Oh yeah, what I had meant to say was that maybe you could take it back from the people you bought it from??
