Opinions please? Aged Lindeman premims

Walked into the local barn this afternoon and prominently on display was a bin of Lindie premiums with a $35 price card:

Hunter River Shiraz Bin 8200 1991 (an 1986 too - this one I think)
Hunter River Shiraz Bin 7200 1991 (but it could this one)
Limestone Ridge 1991 & 1987
St George 1991 & 1988

Some of the bottles I couldn't check without emptying the whole bin but I was able find the above without disturbing the display too much.

I don't recall having tasted any of these wines so would appreciate your opinions of them, particularly if you've tried any of them recently. Also, how's the value (if it's assumed they're in good nick).

The price looks too good to be true for these wines. I bought a bottle of Limestone ridege 92 3 years ago from a bottle shop for a very cheap price and it was all oxidised.
I would suggest you ask the shop about the storage of the wines you mentioned. If it has been on the shelf since release, I will not buy it. You probably will find it is heat affected.

Too true Rob but I'll risk $35 on a btl of Ridge 91. If it's crap, I'll make sure it takes more staff time than that to rebuff me if I can't get a refund :twisted:

Most of these were in a museum release by Lindemans some time over the past twelve months. Purchased the 1991 Limestone Ridge from that release but as yet have not tried. At $35.00 a bargain ,as most of the wines you have listed are still on the shelve near where I live at around the $50 mark. The Lindemans Bin 6600 1983 was also part of this museum release , if that is also there, buy. Had my last bottle from a previous release a few weeks back, a marvellous wine. I know where there is some more of the Bin 6600 and plan to restock [ $51 local].
Although from what I read from other tasting notes there is some bottle variation on the 6600. I have tried this wine right from its original to the museum releases and have never been disappointed.

Daryl,
If you check the labels closely I think you'll find these are Museum Release wines (at least the COoonawarra reds coincide with recent museum releases), so storage shouldn't be an issue.

Not tried the wines, though!

Have enjoyed both the 1991 Limestone Ridge and St. George recently. Both purchased at about $42 a bottle though. Both drinking well now, and unlikely to improve with more time. Both are of medium body, and are not blockbuster styles. Preferred the Limestone Ridge though, as the St. George cabernet had too much of the sour tinge of an aged coonawarra cabernet...

I reckon go ahead and give them a go!!!

Thanks to all for your advice

Bought what may have been the last btl of LR 91 this afternoon. Some or someone must like it. Has 2002, 1999 and 1997 medals listed on the back label so must be last year's museum release thankfully, so don't expect it to be cooked. The cork has been extracted and it's breathing right now. Plenty of St George and a couple of Pyrus left though don't recall seeing any HR left so someone must like the Hunters too. Halliday rated the St George 93pts and the LR 94 pts 10 yrs ago, so may go back on the weekend for a bottle of the St George 91 to try, if there's any still there.
