<b>2003 Kays Amery Late Harvest Frontignac</b>
Young vines showing melon and honeydew and some passionfruit. Compared to the TorbreckÂ’s The Bothie, this is much simpler and finishes a little short.

<b>2000 Kays Amery Shiraz/Mourvedre/Grenache</b>
Very fluid and elegant with good fruit and soft tannins. Quaffable enough but didnÂ’t knock my socks off.

<b>2002 Kays Amery Merlot</b>
Soft blackberries with acidic undertone and round finish. Nothing special and a tad underwhelming..

<b>2001 Kays Amery Shiraz</b>
From Blocks 7 and 8. A distinct lift in weight and body and fruit density. Nice coffee and spicy aromas wit some pepper. Very good and will improve as the tannins soften.

<b>NV Kays Amery Founders Very Old Tawny Solera</b>
Average age of 16 years. Don’t remember much but scrawled on order form – very good and 17/20.

Dried nuts, coffee cream and toffee. Another goodie. Note – mix with a banana smoothie in the mornings for breakfast!

Were these the only wines on tasting or did you not include some?

Adair - also tasted the 10L cask red and 2002 Cabernet. Didn't scribble anything down and to be honest I don't remember them. Strictly no Block 6 or Hillside available for tasting (even for long-time buyers like myself!) - Colin told me they both sold out in two weeks.

Hahaha... any impressions of the 10L cask? I reckon it vies for Australia's best cask wine. Not bad at $65 either!

I understand that the 2000 SGM has now sold out due to it being on special but the 2000 Merlot is now on special and thought you might have tasted that.

I feel like opening a bottle of the NV Kays Amery Founders Liqueur Muscat now... I have 2 bottles next to my desk!

Put it this way Adair - I liked the 10L cask red enough that I considered buying it for Liz's poverty stricken Uni flatmates but we already had 25 bottles in hand luggage between the two of us to take on the flight home! The rule was if we couln't carry it our hand luggage then we wouldn't buy it (saved us spending heaps in $$$ for orders by freight and delivery!)! I'll never forget the look on faces of the Qantas check-in staff ...

No, not yet. I ordered a 6-pack of both around a month or more ago.

Not yet debited either ....

I was concerned I had muddled my order as my CC had not been debited. So I called Matt yesterday and he said orders will be processed early next week.

Block 6 sold out very quickly ( prior to bottling ) and 100 cases of Hillside left.

Very pleasant winery to do business with. Matt was very helpful, considering it was 530pm. Strikes me that more cellar doors don't model themselves on this level of customer service.
