Medium ruby with some brick and onion skin in the edge. Very ordinary on both nose and palate at first - volatile dill/coconut oak over very little pithy-like fruit followed by a relatively warm, dry tannic but hollow finish. Having left the wine for several hours an amazing metamorphis has taken place. A stream of tarry, plum and spicy blackberry fruit now plays an attractive supporting role to the obvious US oak and although the finish reveals more of the alcoholic warmth the wine merits a Recommended rating with the onset of some degree of of equilibrium. This is a bit more like it. Drink 2006-2010.
