Hi all,

I just read the note by the Black Tongues and last night the Red Wine Think Tank met at my place.

So what names for your wine groups do you have and want to share.

The best name I like was a group here in the Barossa called 'Isita'

Rolf, I love the "Is it a..." group name.

We must be a little unimaginative in my wine circles, at least as far as naming goes, there is the weekly Monday group, the fortnightly Thursday group and Jack's monthly group (organised by Jack of course), all without special names.

The Monday group is also the Health group, as it started at the Department of Health in 1975, (I first attended in 1977), but of course (red) wine is healthy too. Despite numerous name changes to the department we still meet in the same building, although only a couple of people work for the Department. It's now the Department of Health and Aged Care, quite appropriate I guess given there are a few retirees who still come along if they aren't travelling around Australia or the world. The group could also be called the 'red bigot' group as we taste whites/pinots about once a year each and then the whites are usually sparkling. I think a few of the regulars do drink white wine in the privacy of their own homes though :-)

Has anyone else attended a regular tasting group for more than 25 years?

My dinner group met for 15 years (I'm a new boy at only 5 years attendence) under nothing more sophisticated than 'First Monday Club', denoting the meeting day. But we eventually voted on 'Noble Rotters', and a member in the rag trade had shirts made up for us with a 'silhouette drinker' logo (actually I've seen it as a avatar about the place).

I've seen some great group names in some of the public Options competitions that have been held from time to time, but none spring to mind just now...

cheers,
Graeme

Priceless! I seem to remember something along the lines of "Chablis or not Chablis, That is the Question", which isn't a bad name for an options group...

cheers,
Graeme

Ahhh, what fond memories!

That is, scuttling them into second place at the 2000 Australasian Wine Options Competition held in Melbourne.

Our team name?

'Pinot Gregan recently disgorged from Eales'arse'

Cheers
Glen

When did they stop Caring? :-) I can't keep up with all those name changes. I guess it's still apt for the group, can't see any of us gettig any younger...

Cheers
