G'day
My last bottle of this wine. Whicher Ridge, while not quite falling within the Margaret River region, make Cabernet Sauvignon that certainly matches that region in terms of concentration and style.
Crimson colour. A dusty nose initially, with blackcurrant, blackberry, a little cassis, vanillan oak, chocolate / mocha and maybe some fresh tobacco. The palate is juicy and shows some red berries (mulberry and cranberry) alongside developed blackberry. Tannins are integrating but still show some grip and dryness, and there's enough acid to keep the wine fresh without being harsh. There's a whack of graphite / pencil shavings as well. Medium to long finish and thoroughly enjoyable.
Not likely to improve much, and this was a good time to drink the final bottle.
Cheers
Allan
