As I’ll be out of action, so to speak, for the next two weeks, oh learned one, would you please look after the Quiz during this time. L Ron Hubbard, back when he was a sci-fi writer?
There's a fairly heavily quoted reference to the same thing in Star Trek DS9.

nicely done.
I have know idea about L Ron Hubbard apart from Battlefield Earth being a cracking good read as a book and a disgusting travesty of a movie.
However the reference is from a classic Star Trek - Deep Space Nine episode "In The Cards".
Well worth getting from the video library, even if you're not a fan. A beautifully crafted observation on helping your fellow man (or alien, as the case may be).
