TN: Capel Vale “The Scholar” Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

G’day
My last bottle of this wine. Decanted an hour before service.
Purple black in colour, and light purple at the rim. No sign of bricking. A dusty nose, showing graphite, leather and savoury notes over some developed blackberry fruits.
The palate is a little more expressive, with some fairly thick and rich blackberry and blueberry fruits. There’s a faint hint of red currant as well as more graphite. Tannins have fully integrated and grip is therefore modest, and the finish is medium bodied and clean.
This is probably a little past it (I wish I had opened this 2-4 year ago) but it is still sound and providing drinking pleasure.
Cheers
Allan
