TN: 2002 Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz

Post by markg »

A wonderful lifted nose of sweet fruits, coffee and tar. Viscous and full bodied, this is a wondefully rich palate of mocha and concentrated fruits with a lovely lingering finish.
Cheers

Any idea how the 1994 Old Vine is travelling? I've got a stray bottle from Cellarmasters years ago.

Maybe I should bring it along to the next tasting panel.

Cheers

1994 was prior to the present Boswald "open chequebook, no expense spared" regime.

I've got a few of the CM version of the 1996 Vintage, oddly enough made by Reid Bosward, that's how he found how good their grapes were. It's a nice wine for the price, but not up to the current standards, it's nearing maturity now.

Cheers

Tried the 2002 Old Vines last week, a belter. This winery has really hit the heights with their 2002 releases.

They may just suit my palate but IMO the Stonehorse is amongst the best QPR at $25 I've seen in the last twelve months and The Bogan is a ripper.

Thinking of trying those two alongside the Old Vines just to see how much difference there is between them, don't think my budget stretches to an Old Bastard as well. I'll post TNs when I do the deed!
Cheers - Steve
If you can see through it, it's not worth drinking!
