TN: Ashbrook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

G’day
This used to be labelled Cabernet Merlot until recently, and this wine contains small amounts for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (although presumably less than 15% in total to meet Australian labelling laws). I’ve been buying and cellaring this wine for over 20 years now.
Deep purple in colour. The nose shows blackcurrant, some tomato leaf, vanilla, dried herbs, cedar, and some dark plums. The palate has depth of fruit, with some red berries alongside the blackcurrant, blackberry and plummy fruit. There’s some juicy acidity, and moderately grippy tannins, leading to a long finish.
I suspect this will age well, as previous vintages have done. Possibly a little less powerful than previous vintages, as befits a cooler vintage, but a very good wine nonetheless.
Cheers
Allan
